Every day has been an adventure since my move to Raleigh. From getting to know new people to trying new restaurants and bars, I've been enjoying it all! One of the cooler things I've experienced so far in living in the Triangle is that if it's variety you want, it's not hard to get it. This area is pretty unique in that if you drive 30 minutes, you can get from one city/town to another and experience a completely different vibe. I had lunch recently in Durham with a friend from high school who took me to Guglhupf.
It's a German/European-inspired cafe and bakery that has both indoor and outdoor seating. Like much of Durham, the building has that reclaimed feel with wooden beams and metal accents with a little chic rust.

The owner hails from southern Germany, so rest assured it's legit. The cafe has sandwiches, salads, and other lighter offerings during lunch, but they've also got a fancier dinner menu in the evening. I didn't partake of the coffee or bakery items, but boy, did they look tempting. I believe the name guglhupf comes from an Alsatian pastry you can try at their bakery.
I loved the repurposed feel of the place and I'd definitely like to go back and try the dinner menu when I'm craving some fancier German fare.
